Blue Earth County District Court Hearings

The Blue Earth County District Court handles all the civil, family, juvenile, criminal, probate, and traffic cases for Blue Earth County. If you are scheduled for a hearing at the courthouse, be sure to check with the Public Court Calendar regularly and throughout the day of your hearing. The court updates the calendar on a regular basis. If your case is a confidential one, it will not be viewable on the website. Contact the court administrator’s office directly for information.

Information for Blue Earth County Jail

If someone is arrested for a crime in Blue Earth County, he or she will likely be held at the Blue Earth County Jail. The jail houses those arrested, awaiting trial, and held for misdemeanor crimes.

Reporting to Jail

If the court sentences you to jail, it will tell you when to arrive. You must arrive punctually on the scheduled day, or the court will issue a warrant for your arrest. When reporting to jail, do not bring any personal effects such as jewelry, tobacco, hygiene items, credit cards, purses, or wallets. You must pay a $25 booking fee, in cash, upon arrival. You can also use cash to buy products from the canteen. Friends and family can also visit the canteen website to add money to an inmate’s account.

Contacting Housed Inmates

Inmates can call family members and friends during approved times. To establish a prepaid account or buy the inmate a phone card, visit the Reliance Telephone website. Loved ones will also have the opportunity to contact inmates by leaving a voice message at (507) 625-9500. Simply follow the voice prompts to leave a message. Please remember that the jail records all phone calls, so it is in your best interest not to reveal anything about a case.

Written Correspondence

All communication with inmates must go through the U.S. Post Office. Letters are not allowed to be dropped off or shipped through FedEx or UPS. Do not send cash, rather send a money order in the inmate’s name. To send a letter to an inmate, use the following address:

INMATE’S FULL NAME

Blue Earth County Jail

P.O. Box 228

Mankato, MN 56002

Posting Bail

There are a few different methods you can use if you wish to post bail. One option is to pay cash at the Justice Center Jail Lobby. If you choose this option, you will need to bring the exact bail amount in cash. The other option is to contract with a bail bondsman. You will need to meet with the bondsman, fill out paperwork, and he or she will in turn give the paperwork to the Jail Center front desk.

Visiting Your Loved One

Inmates in the facility have visiting hours during their dayroom times. Inmates will be responsible for notifying visitors of the dayroom times they have. There are no special holiday visiting hours. Visitors must be 18 years of age or be in the company of a parent or legal guardian. You must register for visiting through the inmate canteen portal.
